Flower Power Collection
I had never worked with porcelain until friends registered with me for their wedding dinnerware set. They had a partial set of fairly ornate porcelain plates they had inherited from a beloved relative and wanted me to design a dinnerware and serving ware set that wouldn't exactly match, but would be compatible with their porcelain plates. After years of working with stoneware clay only, it took me a little practice to learn how to work with porcelain clay, which is smooth and buttery, but doesn't have much structure and isn't very forgiving. Once I worked it out, I loved the feel. Also this was in the wintertime, and I loved working with bright, cheery colors on light-colored clay. I found it really brightened my studio and my mood. I still love working with this clay and these colors, especially in the winter!
