Greek to Me Collection
Quite a few years ago, back in the days when I was carefree and childfree (sigh!), I was invited with a group of American friends to participate in the wedding of some Greek friends and afterwards to join Marios and Sophia on their honeymoon. We traveled all over Greece with our newlywed Greek tour guides and I fell in love with everything Greek. Little surprise that my philosopher-songwriter husband Dave and I named our first child "Sophia," a name which means "wisdom" in Greek. Side note: the word philosophy is also Greek, from philo ("love of") and sophia ("wisdom"). When Sophia had her bat mitzvah event, she chose a Greek theme. (Of course, since the Greeks and Semites have always gotten along so fabulously!) Of course, since I'm a potter, I had to make Greek-inspired vases as centerpieces for all the tables and Greek-inspired serving ware for the buffet. Thus began my Greek Collection, and I still have a few pieces remaining.
